ABOUT ME
Scott Alan Burroughs, Esq. is an attorney, writer, and advocate. He is the Managing Partner of Doniger / Burroughs' New York office and the East Coast Regional Director for the National Society of Entertainment and Arts Lawyers.
For almost 20 years, he has been battling for artists' rights in courts worldwide. During that time, he has been fortunate enough to handle numerous important copyright cases and create new authority on cutting-edge art law issues.
Before law school, Mr. Burroughs worked as a writer. As his legal career progressed, he toiled for studios and agencies including Sony Pictures Entertainment and SFX.
After transitioning to litigation, where he felt he could have a greater impact on artists' rights, Burroughs was selected as a California Rising Star for the years 2015-2019 by Los Angeles Magazine and Super Lawyers. Since expanding his practice to New York, he has been selected as a New York Super Lawyer for the years 2021-2024.
In 2024, Billboard Magazine recognized Mr. Burroughs as a Top Music Lawyer
To date, he has handled and overseen thousands of copyright and art disputes in courts around the world on behalf of writers, designers, photographers, street artists, tattoo artists, graphic artists, producers, and performers. In doing so he has tackled some of the planet's largest studios, retailers, and corporations, including Disney, Universal Music Group, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Paramount, NBC, Shein, and countless others.
